About

CG Bertrand

Brazilian jiu-jitsu, on camera and on stream.

How she found jiu-jitsu

CG wrestled for 12 years before BJJ ever entered the picture. After having her son, she was itching to get back on the mats — so she found a gym close to home that told her they'd love to have her. That was all it took. She's been hooked ever since. What started as a way to move again turned into a full-blown community: coaches she trusts, friends she trains with, and a room that feels like hers.

What she trains now

CG is a blue belt out of American Top Team Sandy Springs. She hasn't chased BJJ competition seriously — her competitive résumé comes from wrestling, and it's a stacked one: 2x NCAA qualifier, ranked as high as 10th in the country at 123 lbs in college, and 3x GHSA state placer in high school, where she placed higher in the boys' bracket than any girl in Georgia history (3rd place, her best finish). She was also ranked as high as 2nd in the country at 106 lbs after winning NHSCA at 112.

Why she films

CG started making videos just for fun — a creative outlet while she adjusted to being a new mom back in Georgia. The content ranges from technique breakdowns to challenges to her just talking straight to camera. Her audience is mostly other BJJ and MMA athletes, people who are as obsessed with the sport as she is — which makes for one of the more engaged, in-the-know communities a jiu-jitsu brand could ask for.

On stream

Twitch nights with CG go one of two ways: IRL streams rolling at the gym, or hopping on Minecraft with chat for something more low-key. Either way, it's the same energy — she's chatting, answering questions, telling stories, and letting the chat weigh in. It's the version of CG that's less performance, more hangout.
